Evan, 16, is a junior at Princeton Day School and has been playing piano for 10 years. He started piano when he was 6 and began lessons with Professor Clarfield in the winter of 2020. He has won numerous awards, including 2nd place in the ENKOR International Music Competition in 2017 and 2019, 1st place in the 2017 Greater Princeton Steinway Society Competition, 3rd place in the NJMTA Young Musicians Competition in 2019, 2nd prize in the Orbetello Junior International Competition in 2021, the Silver Award in IMPACT 2021, the Bronze Prize and the Judge's Award in the Musicale Winter Festival in 2022, the Gold Medal in the Young Maestro International Competition in 2022, and numerous Great Composer competitions, more recently including Best Beethoven and Best Rachmaninoff. He also performed at Carnegie Hall twice and at the 5th Princeton Symphony masterclass in 2019.
Outside of piano with Prof. Clarfield, Evan accompanies his school orchestra and heads the Tri-M Honors Society branch at PDS. He is interested in biological and chemical science, attending a summer program for biomedical research at UPenn. He heads Princeton Day's Science Olympiad team and founded its Med Club. He is an involved member of the Model UN team, receiving Best Delegate at Cornell's 2022 MUN conference. He is passionate about helping children to enjoy learning from a young age and teaches middle/elementary schoolers math, science, and ESL. On the side, he runs cross country and plays tennis at PDS. In his free time, Evan enjoys listening to music and trying to read more. His favorite artist is Taylor Swift and his favorite book is The Code Breaker by Walter Isaacson.
Evan is so grateful for everything music has given him and hopes to continue doing what he loves.
