Taksh Gupta, age 17, is a student of Ingrid Clarfield. He has been a student of Professor Clarfield for 12 years. He is a senior at The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. Taksh started participating in piano competitions at the age of 5 and has won numerous awards in the last 12 years. The awards include two-time First prize winner at NJMTA Fall Young Musicians Competition, ten-time High Honors recipient at NJMTA Spring Audition, five-time Gold prize winner at Golden Key Music Festival, two times First Prize Winner at Steinway South Jersey Competition, two-time First Prize winner at Forte International Music Competition, and three-time First Place Winner at Elite Music Competition.
He has performed at many prestigious venues including performing nineteen times at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, twice at Rutgers University, five times at Rider University, twice at Stockton University, and also at the Kimmel and Lincoln Centers.
Music has always been a big part of his life and he enjoys listening to all types of music including classical, hip-hop, jazz, and Indian music. Taksh is committed to helping the society and community through his music, by participating in fundraising events like Children Helping Children Performathons to support Homefront and CHOP. He has also performed for local nursing homes. Taksh has also helped to organize a benefit concert for Sphoorti, a charity that helps orphans and destitute children.
Taksh enjoys playing the piano in the Lawrenceville jazz band. Outside of music, Taksh runs cross country and track for Lawrenceville. He set the school's freshmen records in the 5k and the 3200m with times of 17:17 and 10:24, respectively. During his sophomore year, Taksh placed first in the outdoor track State Prep Championships meet in the 3200m and was recently elected as a captain of Lawrenceville's cross country and outdoor track and field teams. Taksh also enjoys scientific research and has a paper published in MDPI's BioMedInformatics journal regarding lung cancer treatment. He is also interning at the Dr. Grigoriev lab at Rutgers University.
