My name is Jianyu Zhao, and my English name is Janie. I am from China and am currently a second-year graduate student majoring in Piano Performance & Pedagogy at Westminster Choir College. I started playing piano at the age of seven, and now it has been sixteen years. I love music and can feel the emotion inside of it. When I play Bach pieces, I feel peace and calm in my heart because Bach always played his music in the church on Sabbath. Bach, Chopin, and Liszt are my favorite composers. I love the romanticism of Chopin's music; it is beautiful and amazing.

I LOVE PROFESSOR CLARFIELD. She is a great teacher and is kind, humorous, and musical, and she has helped me a lot. I have improved in rhythm and performance skills. I am really glad to study with her. I graduated from WCC as an undergraduate student in 2018, and this is my sixth year at WCC. I have participated in NJMTA as a member of the collegiate chapter for three years. I was also the graduate assistant for the Piano department at WCC from Fall 2018 to Spring 2020.
