With her over 50 years of teaching experience, Professor Clarfield will share her pedagogical insights into how to turn your students’ ordinary performances into extraordinary performances that will emotionally move and impress the audience in recitals, and judges in competitions! What are the essential elements teachers should incorporate into their teaching beyond the correct notes and rhythm and basic details in the score?

Professor Clarfield will demonstrate and use videos as well as live student demonstrations that reveal how to teach these essential artistic elements. Her session will include repertoire at all levels and will address such issues as rubato, voicing, pedaling, choreography and characterization.
