Pedagogy Workshop for California State University at Northridge

PROPER PREPARATION AND CREATIVE PRACTICE TECHNIQUES LEAD TO A POLISHED PERFORMANCE

So how many times have you heard a performance and went WOW!! Is it really all about talent or was there some incredible teaching that also happened? My answer is............smart teaching!!!
In this lecture, I will share my ideas on how to create these amazing performances by PROPER PREPARATION of the piece, teaching students how to PRACTICE efficiently and ultimately learn how to POLISH pieces that result in a truly artistic performance. To prepare for my lecture you might want to look over and play through the following 4 pieces: Bach Musette in D Major, Mozart Sonata in C Major K.545 - I , Chopin Nocturne in Eb Major Op.9, No.2 and Debussy - Golliwog's Cakewalk.
