Hi, my name is Hannah Zou. I am 15 years old, entering 10th grade at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North.

I am currently studying piano with Mrs. Ingrid Clarfield. She always has a positive attitude, a good teaching technique, helpful practicing strategies and I enjoy learning from her a lot. I started playing the piano when I was 4 with Chloris Li for 6 years. During the past few years, I have received many awards, including 1st place in the Vivo International Competition, 1st place in the Elite International Competition, 1st place in the American Protege Concerto Competition, a finalist at the Princeton Festival Piano Competition, 2nd place in the CAI competition, 2nd place in NJMTA Young Musicians Competitions and MTNA honorable mention. During the pandemic, I won honorable mention in the stay home international piano competition and was one of the only two pianists from the USA who received awards. I was also invited to play in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall multiple times. I am very grateful to have the privilege of studying with Mrs. Clarfield.

Aside from piano, I have been playing the cello for 6 years. Playing the cello, while very different from the piano, is also an enjoyable experience for me. I have received medals and awards in math competitions like Math League and AMC10. I was also in my school’s Science Olympiad teams. My favorite event is Ornithology. In my free time, I like reading, playing games, grinding Bird ID and chatting with my friends.
